6th Grade Science
Our first project was quite a success! The students learned a lot about what eco-friendly alternatives work for the job they say they will do, and what products are better to buy at the store if you are worried about results. They all did a wonderful job of working cooperatively with their groups to get the job done. Excellent work!
This week we will begin studying cells, including the organelles that make up the cells of plants and animals, and the various jobs that those organelles perform for the cell, and ultimately for our body (animal cells) and for plants (plant cells).  We will be learning quite a bit about the organelles this week. Be sure to ask your child about some of them! I have some cute names for them that can help the kids to remember their jobs.

7th Grade English
Seventh grade students have been presenting their multimedia projects during class. Topics have included everything from the invention of the Band-Aid and microwave oven to facts relating to historical events such as Apollo 11 landing on the moon and the Dust Bowl. It has been an enjoyable way for the students to combine their language skills with computer technology to create an informative presentation that also expresses their personal interests and creativity.
