I'm going to show you how to access our online resources for the library so we're going to start on our blms website so go to blms USD 458. from there we are going to go to academics and click on Library that's going to take us to the library homepage over on the right you're going to want to click on Library catalog and ebooks so first we're going to look at our library catalog that is the Alexandria online catalog we'll click on that and go up here to log in when you guys log in your username is going to be the 5 digit code on your computer and your password is going to be your last name so I'm going to log in as 1 as our students for an example and then we're going to search so we can search for books by genre we can search for books by topic we can search um by author so first let's put in sports so that brings up non-fiction books fiction books you can see the green got here and it says available so that book would be available um if it's a book is checked out it'll be a red dot and say out so maybe we know we want Sports graphic novel so we can go ahead and search for those you can see here that this copy of roller girl is checked out um and this copy of roller girl is checked out if 1 of them was available it would have the Green Dot like this and say available so I going to go ahead and show you guys how to place a book on hold so this button right here it looks like a book with a hand on it you can click on that and it's going to place that book on hold for you it lets us know in the library that you want that book um we can also search by author so if we come back up here we put in Tim Green we can see all of Tim Green's books see which ones are checked out and which ones are available all right next I'm going to show you how to use our um Surah apps so that is our ebooks so we'll click on that when you get here it's going to prompt you to log in you're going to log in with your um Gmail so right now I'm going to go ahead and click on this button that says explore and that takes us to all of our available ebooks through our library so you can see all the books here um you can click this button that says over 450 books see the rest of the books but I wanted to show you these books with the headphones on them that means that that book has an audio option so you can go ahead and click on that book and if we clicked on borrow it automatically opens that up for us so if we want to listen to the book this is going to be the audio and you can see up here that there's just over 12 hours left in this book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen introduction bride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is 1 of the most beloved novels of all time Elizabeth be so I have this on 1 and a half speed you can change the speed that they are reading as well if you click that button that looks like the speedometer up there okay so I'm going to close this 1 maybe we don't want this 1 once we started it we don't really like it and we want to switch we can click on that button again that says borrowed and click return so then we don't have that book checked out anymore if we go back to explore again maybe we decided we want die over Wimpy Kid instead we can click on that 1 now this 1 did not have the headphone on it so this 1 does not have audio so we click borrow and it's automatically going to open the book for us again and on this 1 if you can see my mouse turns into a little hand if you click over here in the right space it advances through the pages for you if you want to get back to your tools just click in the middle again it opens all that up again so I'm going to go ahead and close that 1 in return that book all right I'm going to hit explore again here up here under the word Explorer you see it says base or limit USD 458 you guys can go ahead and click on sunflower our e Library as well and it pulls up all of the books that we have access to through the sunflower connection there so there's a lot of different books there um that is how we use the Sora app and the library catalog if you have any questions please let us know
