Justin Kline

Mr. Kline is excited to begin his second year at Basehor-Linwood! He previously taught for four years in the Savannah R3 school district in Savannah, Missouri. He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and attended Blue Valley West High School and the University of Kansas where he earned his Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees in 2018 and 2023. Mr. Kline studied Clarinet with Dr. Stephanie Zelnick, conducting with Dr. Matthew Smith and Dr. Paul Popiel, and music education with Dr. Martin Bergee. While attending the University of Kansas Mr. Kline was involved in many musical activities, including serving as a four-year member of the Marching Jayhawks and performing with the school’s top band, the Wind Ensemble. While a member of this ensemble, Mr. Kline recorded a world premier album through the NAXOS label, and performed at the College Band Directors National Association national conference. His other performing groups at KU included the Symphonic Band, Clarinet Choir, Men’s Glee Club, KU Youth Chorus, Rock Chalk Singers, and Men’s Basketball Band. Outside of KU, Mr. Kline was a member of the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps for 3 years as a mellophone player, where he was awarded Crusader of the Year his final year. He has served on the staff as a visual technician for the Boston Crusaders every year since 2018. Mr. Kline is professionally affiliated with the National Association for Music Education and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
